We gather every Sunday 10:30am at Kilworthy Park, PL19 0BZ. You’d be so welcome to join us, why not come along this week and say hi?

Churches come in all kinds of shapes and sizes, it can be hard to know what to expect, which can make turning up for the first time a daunting prospect. When you come to a gathering at Redeemer Church we want you to feel welcomed, part of us and relaxed, as such, we thought you might appreciate a little explanation of what a typical Redeemer Sunday gathering looks like.

Finding us & Parking

There are many ways to get to us on a Sunday morning. As we are in the town centre we have lots of local transport links. If you are traveling by bus get off at the town hall and walk through the banks, we are the first right turning after the viaduct. If you are using your Sat-Nav the postcode for Kilworthy Park is PL19 0BZ. If you are traveling by car there is free parking next to the building, one of our welcome team will be in the car park to direct you.

In our meetings we normally spend 30-40 minutes singing songs of thanks for who God is and what He has done (words to the songs are projected on a screen). Please feel free to join in or just observe in whatever way makes you most comfortable. We also normally have a short time of sharing news, and we take up an offering. Guests are not expected to give money at this point (although you are welcome to) and no-one will mind if you don’t. The children usually head to age specific groups at this point in the meeting, you can find out more about that but visiting our ‘Redeemer Kids’ page.

There will be about 40 minutes of teaching from the Bible. We believe this to be an important element of our worship and is a key reason for us gathering together. We also regularly take communion together as part of our worship in remembrance of the death and resurrection of Jesus.

Before the service people tend to arrive early to chat and have a tea or coffee. There is an info point at which you can pick up more information about the church, or talk to a member of our Welcome Team if this would be helpful.

The Bible teaches that churches are led by teams of elders. In the early stages of this church plant we don't have any elders in place, but we do have an emerging leadership team and we hope it won't be too long before we're able to appoint elders. The eldership team from Redeemer Church Plymouth provide oversight and care for the Tavistock church plant; Grant Van Schalkwyk carries particular responsibility for Tavistock at this point in time.

Grant and Suz

Grant Van Schalkwyk

Grant and Suze moved to Plymouth from Honiton, where Grant was an elder at The Community Church Honiton, in 2009 with their 2 children Chloe and Joel. They have a passion to raise leaders so that more churches can be planted in order for people to hear and know the good news of Jesus. In their spare time they enjoy long walks with their dog around Plymouths spectacular coastline and getting together with their friends, which usually involves food and plenty of laughs!

Steve works for Redeemer Church as he leads the team here in Tavistock and Jenny works in a local school part time as a Teaching Assistant. The Norris family are seriously excited about the church plant team that God is drawing together in Tavistock and are passionate about doing everything they can to help people encounter Jesus.

[ life groups ]

'Life Groups are where we share our lives together as a church family; eating, praying, worshipping, socialising and seeking to impact the community around us with the good news of Jesus Christ.'

At Pre-school we base our sessions around the popular Bible App for Kids, the fun activities and repetition within the stories help the children to learn more about God’s love for them. You can download the Bible App here to read along with your child during the week.

During a child’s primary age they want to have fun and find a place to belong. Here at Redeemer Kids Primary the children experience a teaching style they can enjoy while they connect with other kids and adults who are passionate about them knowing God and living their lives for him.
