Welcome to Redeemer Church Tavistock! We’re a friendly and growing group of people of all ages from various backgrounds with one thing in common...we love Jesus. Our desire is to know God more and to help everyone we can, everywhere we can, in every way we can discover what we’ve discovered: that there is hope, love, forgiveness and life like no other to be found in Jesus! So whoever you are and whatever your story, whether you’d call yourself a Christian or not, you are so welcome to join us.
First time at Redeemer? Or first time visiting a church?
Where can I park?
There is plenty of free parking at the school - just follow the driveway around the building and you can park on the playground behind.
What about my kids?
We have a full range of activities from creche right through to year 11. For more details about all our kids and youth work please visit the Kids & Youth pages under the heading 'Sundays'.
Is there disabled access?
Disabled access for wheelchairs and mobility scooters can be found next to the side entrance of the Hall. Inside we have access to disabled toilet facilities.
What can I expect during the service itself?
Our Sunday service starts at 10.30am, although people arrive from 10am to catch up with friends and grab a drink from our refreshments area before the service starts. If you get there late, don’t worry, just come right in and our Welcome team will help you find a seat.
When the service starts the host will welcome everyone, and after that the band will lead us in a few songs. Most people stand for this part of the service but this is not an obligation, people are free to sit if they wish. The words appear on a big screen so people are able to sing along. Those not familiar with the songs are able to enjoy the words and listen. Often people from the congregation will pray out loud, read from the Bible or share something they feel God wants to encourage us with.
Following on from that there will be announcements and we take an offering (there is no obligation to give). Then the kids (and once a month the youth) will head out to their respective groups for a time of Bible teaching, games and craft. There is also a creche area for parents of babies and pre-school children. We are aware that coming to a new church can be daunting, and are happy for children to stay in the service with their parents if they’d prefer.
Everyone else stays and listens to a talk that reveals how the Bible is relevant to our lives today. Sometimes there is an opportunity for people to respond to what has been shared and a team member from Redeemer will be available to listen, answer questions and pray with those who respond.
We aim to finish the service by 12pm. If you brought children with you and they have gone out to Redeemer Kids group please collect them as soon as the service ends. After the service we’d love to catch up with you, so please feel free to grab a drink from the refreshments area and connect with us some more.
What should I wear?
We want every person who comes to feel relaxed & comfortable. There’s no need to dress up, most people dress casually, just wear whatever you’d usually put on.
